Scandinavian Airlines is expanding its regional network and launching a new direct route from Newcastle International Airport to Copenhagen with operations starting on 4 February 2013.
SAS will be offering a daily flight to Copenhagen from Newcastle, from Monday to Friday using a 50 seater Cimber A/S aircraft on a wet lease agreement with CRJ200 equipment. Flights will start from just £96 one-way including all taxes and charges.
Hans Dyhrfort, SAS’ Regional General Manager Western Europe, commented: “With more than 3 million people living within reach of the airport, Newcastle is an important northern hub and area of development for SAS. We are pleased to offer passengers the choice and flexibility to fly direct from Newcastle to Copenhagen or onwards to many other destinations in Scandinavia and Northern Europe”.
Chris Sanders, Aviation Development Director at Newcastle International Airport, said: “We are delighted at SAS re-establishing flights to Copenhagen from Newcastle. With increasing business ties, we know the flights will be very popular with both the business community and leisure travellers alike.
“Business travellers will benefit from being able to do a full day’s work at each end of the route as well as a number of onward connections at Copenhagen. In addition, Copenhagen makes for an exciting cosmopolitan mini-break, so we’re sure North East travellers will want to make the most of this opportunity."
