Garuda Indonesia Increases Capacity on Singapore - Jakarta Service

  • Published by Vedat
Indonesia’s national airline, Garuda Indonesia, is increasing capacity on its Jakarta – Singapore route by operating larger capacity aircraft in response to the strong bi-directional demand.

garuda-indonesia-boeing737-800Garuda Indonesia currently operates nine daily flights between Singapore and Jakarta. Starting this month, two daily 162-seater Boeing 737-800 services will be replaced by the 222-seater Airbus A330-200 aircraft, increasing the capacity on each flight by 37%.

The A332 aircraft will be deployed on the afternoon GA 829 service departing Singapore at 12.20pm and the evening GA 837 flight departing at 8.20pm. It will also be operated on the morning GA 826 flight departing Jakarta at 8.35am and the GA 834 leaving at 4.30pm.

The flight capacity on the Singapore-Jakarta service will be adjusted again in November to meet projected passengers’ demand. Effective 6 November, the two daily A332 flights will be replaced by the bigger 257-seater Airbus A330-300 aircraft and another two daily return B737-800 services will be operated on the A332 aircraft.

“Garuda Indonesia’s flights from Singapore to Jakarta have always been popular with both business and leisure travellers because of our convenient flight timings and value added services,” said Nicodemus Lampe, Vice President, Area Asia, Garuda Indonesia. “We have also been seeing an increasing trend of passengers upgrading and opting for our Executive Class when travelling with us. This development enhances our continual push into the premium market as it marks a 300-350% increase in our executive class capacity per flight.”

In addition to the capacity upgrade, Garuda Indonesia will also be moving its check in services at Changi Airport Terminal 3 from the existing Row 1 to the more centrally located Row 5 starting 25 September, providing passengers added convenience and easier access to the departure gates situated across the centre row.

Singapore is Garuda’s busiest destination outside of Indonesia and the airline currently operates over 80 weekly flights from Singapore to four Indonesian destinations namely Bali, Jakarta, Balikpapan and Surabaya.
