Johannesburg SkylineFollowing flights to Luanda, Algiers, Oran, Accra, Malabo, Casablanca, Marrakech, Tangier, Lagos, and Dakar in Africa, Iberia resumes flights to Johannesburg next August, making the city its 11th destination in the continent.

Iberia will fly to Johannesburg three times a week, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and return on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It will use new Airbus A330-300s, with 36 seats in business and 242 in economy.

The flight schedule will facilitate connections to more than 100 destinations in the Iberia network. Apart from Spain, Portugal, Cuba, the U.S., the U.K, Italy, Germany and Switzerland will be the main countries to feed this flight. On board of these flights, Iberia will also carry freight, such as perishable goods, mainly fish from South Africa.

The new Airbus A330-300s are twin-engine aircraft that burn 15% less fuel than those they replace. They are equipped with Iberia’s new long-haul seating classes. Business class features seats that become two-meters long flat beds all with direct access to the aisle. Business travellers can enjoy the lavish entertainment programme on 15.4” touch screens, as well as gourmet meals accompanied by a selection of the most exquisite regional Spanish wines.

Economy Class passengers fly comfortably in ergonomic seats which are wider and more comfortable. The same entertainment programme as in Business Class is available to them on 9” touch screens. It includes 50 feature films in several languages, 80 television series and documentaries, and video games. Wi-Fi and GSM connectivity are available to all Business and Economy Class passengers.

Johannesburg is the largest city in South Africa and also its main financial centre. The city is a transit point for connecting flights to Cape Town, Durban and the Kruger National Park.
