Holland America Line Introduces ‘Glacier Day’ and Enhanced Alaska Experiences in 2024

As summer 2024 approaches, Holland America Line is set to enrich the Alaska cruising experience with the debut of “Glacier Day” and a host of Alaska-focused onboard enhancements. These offerings are part of the “We Love Alaska” experience, aimed at connecting passengers more deeply with the region’s culture, history, and natural beauty.

Introducing ‘Glacier Day’
Holland America Line is enhancing its Alaska cruises with the introduction of “Glacier Day,” a special event dedicated to celebrating Alaska’s iconic glaciers. This day will feature unique activities such as glacier sighting times, scenic commentary, informational viewing stations, and exclusive photo opportunities. Passengers will also enjoy Dutch Pea Soup on deck, Glacier Ice cocktails, and engaging talks by Glacier Bay National Park Rangers and Huna cultural interpreters.

2024 Season Launch
The 2024 Alaska cruising season begins on April 27 from Vancouver and May 4 from Seattle. Holland America Line will offer a range of itineraries aboard six of its ships, including the Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam, and Zaandam. These include standard seven-day cruises, extended 14-day journeys, and a new 28-day Arctic Circle Solstice Legendary Voyage.

Culinary and Beverage Innovations
The culinary experience on these cruises will feature fresh Alaska seafood dishes by Fresh Fish Ambassador Chef Morimoto and new Alaska-themed cocktails by renowned bartender Sam Ross. Highlights include Fresh Black Cod Yuzu, Morimoto Epice Lobster, and Fresh Halibut XO. A special Alaska Seafood Boil and an Alaska Brunch menu will also be available, showcasing local ingredients and flavors.

Onboard Beverage Offerings
Sam Ross, the 2011 “U.S. Bartender of the Year,” has created a unique menu of Alaska-inspired cocktails available across all ships on the Alaska route. The beverage menu includes creations such as the Juneau AK, Klondiker, and the PNW Penicillin, providing guests with a taste of the region’s spirit.

‘Killer Whale Pale Ale’ Debuts
In collaboration with Pike Brewing, Holland America Line is introducing the “Killer Whale Pale Ale,” a craft beer with notes of honey, citrus, and tropical fruits. The beer’s label, designed by Native Artist Rico Worl, reflects the food chain dynamics of the Pacific Northwest and adds a unique cultural element to the onboard offerings.

Wildlife Viewing Opportunities
Holland America Line’s Alaska cruises offer more wildlife viewing opportunities than any other cruise line. Each ship carries an expert to guide passengers in spotting the majestic animals of the region. Nearly 180 shore excursions are available for guests wanting to explore Alaska’s diverse wildlife up close.
