Shanghai Cruise Tourism Festival 2013 will open in Baoshan, Shanghai from late this month to Mid-June.

With carefully designed themed activities, the festival is meant to be a big gathering of cruise enthusiasts and a mart for cruise products.

2013 is the "Marine Tourism Year" of China, and cruise tourism is important part of the development of marine tourism. One of the themed activities is a publicity caravan road show that will tour Shanghai's districts to generate awareness and exposure of cruise tourism products.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, Shanghai has an ambition to become an international shipping center and a world famous tourist destination. Shanghai will seize the opportunity to innovate and put itself in a position to serve better its function as the “Pilot Zone of China's Cruise Tourism Development” and “Pilot Zone of Comprehensive Reform for the Development of Shanghai's International Cruise Industry”. Shanghai will be committed to cruise services and improvement of the cruise industry value chain to vigorously develop cruise tourism.
