Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire has introduced a Digital Detox Spa Retreat, which encourages guests to let go of their need to be digitally connected 24/7. Inspired by the recent launch of Unplugged by Orianna Fielding, Four Seasons Hotel Hampshire has devised a day that helps guests recharge mind, body and soul and help kick-start an online/offline life balance.
On arrival at The Spa, located in a picturesque 18th century stable block, guests will be asked to surrender their digital devices for the duration of the day. Welcomed by a detox smoothie, they are then invited to enjoy full use of all The Spa facilities that include a 20 metre (66 foot) conservatory-style swimming pool, outdoor vitality pool, fully equipped gym, sauna, steam and complete timetable of fitness classes. The Digital Detox Spa Retreat includes a bespoke 90 minute Sodashi therapy involving a foot cleanse, full body exfoliation and deep massage using warm crystals. A private yoga class is also arranged in the newly converted Mind & Body Studio overlooking Chef’s Garden.
For those in search of fresh country air, there are flood-lit tennis courts and mountain bikes available for exploring the glorious Dogmersfield Park. A walk through the heritage-listed Walled Garden or along the tow path of the Basingstoke Canal that borders the 500 acre (200 hectare) Estate can help bring guests one step closer to reconnecting with the essence of life, without a screen for company.
“Studies have shown that digital over-connectivity can also be responsible for causing symptoms of depression and social anxiety, thanks to a lack of real human connection. Whilst our digital life celebrates connectivity, without real meaning and connection our actual lives have no anchor to sustain us. Our ‘digital overload’ has also manifested another effect. It has enabled us to avoid spending any time with ourselves,” writes Orianna Fielding.
