Orlando to host the 8th World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress

Orlando’s Orange County Convention Center will host the 8th World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress next week. Orlando’s tourism community will host the most comprehensive international healthcare conference and tradeshow in the industry from September 27 to 30.

The World Medical Tourism & Global Healthcare Congress is the Medical Tourism Association‘s annual international conference, where the annual membership meeting is held. The Medical Tourism Association® is the industry’s official organization dedicated to the growth of the industry globally.

George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando, said, “Orlando’s hospitals offer some of the best health care in the world. Combine these facilities and the experts that work in them with the second-largest convention center in the nation and everything else that makes Orlando the No. 1 meeting destination in the U.S., and it’s no surprise that medical conventions represent an appealing growth segment for our destination”.

“As Visit Orlando continues to open new markets and grow overall visitation beyond the record-breaking 62 million visitors in 2014, medical conventions are a targeted approach to leveraging tourism for the economic prosperity and quality of life for our residents,” added Mr. George Aguel.

Dr. Ali Poorani, who is the Director of Hospitality Associates for Research & Training (HART), the Associate Professor of Leadership & Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware, will speak at the congress where he will discuss the success factors for medical tourism special economic zones.

Dr. Sanjay Prasad, Founder and CEO of SurgiPrice will present on the topic of Marketplace Competition in Healthcare: A Powerful Solution to Drastically Lower Health Care Costs for Corporations with Self-Insured Health Plans.

Participants and attendees will have the opportunity to learn first-hand from leading hospitals, insurance companies, physicians, etc. and to take advantage of the collaborative forums and summits. There will also be hundreds of one-on-one networking opportunities with registrants from the combined conference of the Employer Healthcare & Benefits Conference (EHBC), and International Luxury Hotel Association (IHLA) providing six times the traffic and networking for everyone attending the conferences this year.
