ECM Summer School 2014 to take place in Genoa

  • Published by Ozgur Tore

The 28th Summer School runs from 23-27 August in Genoa and will provide at least 50 new delegates with the foundation and knowledge to progress a rewarding career in the Meetings Industry.

ecm-logo0413The aim of the Summer School is to provide incisive insight into the structure and functioning of the meetings industry, bringing delegates face to face with leading industry practitioners. The programme sets out the background and context of the industry, with a focus on up-to-date and cutting-edge examples of European best practice. It is perfect for those just starting out in the sector and who quickly want to get up to speed.

Course content is both relevant and practical, tailored to staff of convention bureaus, hotels, PCOs, DMCs, airlines, conference venues, congress centres, convention centres, exhibition centres and suppliers of ancillary and other products.

The ECM Summer School has consistently been the bridge to a successful career in the Meetings Industry. It has graduated more than 1,500 students - many of whom have gone on to become future leaders.

Despite new technology and hybrid meetings, the winning formula has remained the same: a unique opportunity for young professionals, just entering the meetings industry, to spend three days with some of the biggest names in our business in an “old-fashioned” school.

The faculty is not made up of academics but experienced senior experts with a “tell it as it is” angle based on many years hands-on experience. The faculty are all members/partners of ECM and give their time on a voluntary basis – a way of giving back to the meetings industry : Rémy Cregut (Montreux Music & Convention Centre), Nalan Emre (IMEX), Luca Favetta (SAP Marketing), Paul Flackett (IMEX), Elisabeth Hansa (Austria Center Vienna), Cécile Koch (MIM Magazine), Cain Leathem (GB Fitness), Christian Mutschlechner (Vienna Convention Bureau), Michel Neijmann (IAPCO), Miguel Neves (IMEX), Annalisa Ponchia (ESOT), Olivier Ponti (Amsterdam Marketing), Denis Speet (ICCA), Anne Wallin Rodven (Oslo Convention Bureau), Tina Walspurger, (USI), led by the course leader Pier Paolo Mariotti, CMP CMM.

The Summer School has now qualified for CMP certification and every student getting a Summer School diploma earns 7.5 points for their over-all CMP certification.
