Christmas in Jaffa, Tel Aviv's Old City

  • Published by Ozgur Tore

Jaffa telavivThe Nonstop City of Tel Aviv presents "Made in Jaffa"- concerts, tours, exhibitions and benefits that will attract tourists from around the world to enjoy the diversity of cultures, religions, artists, tastes and smells of the world's most ancient port city. The events will be held in various locations in Jaffa, during the 2015 Holiday season.

Christmas in Tel Aviv is a unique experience: the city, enjoying an average of 318 days of sunshine a year, is the perfect winter-break for those who wish to escape the cold weather. Visitors can enjoy the sandy beaches of Tel Aviv, the magical alleys of Jaffa adorned with Christmas trees and Hanukkah Menorahs in outdoor festivities of delicious food and exciting music, all to celebrate a winter "Made in Jaffa".

Jaffa Old City will be the focus of the "Made in Jaffa" events:

•             Opera performances in the Flea Market

•             Traditional Arab and Jewish food market: celebrating the tastes and smells of Jaffa's boutique products and traditional handcrafts

•             The Greek Market will transform into a Greek Taverna with authentic Greek music and a vintage art fair

•             Jaffa Art Salon gallery will be exhibiting "Winter Salon 2016", featuring works of 30 Israeli artists

•             Artists' open houses: Intimate concerts and shows will take place in the artists' homes in the magical houses of Old Jaffa

•             Concert at the Jaffa Port: a series of acoustic heartwarming shows, featuring Israel's best singers, will take place at a port warehouse

•             A traditional Jewish ceremony welcoming the Sabbath at the Flea Market

•             Tours: visitors are welcome to get to know Old Jaffa by foot, with free tours in English

•             Digital self-guided tours: QR codes on lamp posts throughout Jaffa will allow tourists to navigate through historical sites on their own with GPS systems, visual aids and audio explanations.

It is recommended staying at Market House Boutique Hotel near the Clock Tower, the only hotel in Israel which is built over archaeological remnants of an ancient Byzantine Chapel. The hotel lobby contains a clear glass floor to provide guests with an impressive view of the magnificent ruins.
