Dr. Aysegul Gurgezoglu, Deputy Director of The Turkish Culture & Tourism Office commenced her post in the UK this week.

Dr. Gurgezoglu will be working alongside Director Irfan Onal to strengthen promotional efforts of Turkish Culture and Tourism in the UK

 

Commenting on the appointment, Irfan Onal, Director of the TCTO UK said: “We are delighted to welcome Dr. Aysegul Gurgezoglu to our team; with her background in archaeology and extensive experience across various roles at the Ministry in Turkey, she will be bringing new insights and energy to the office.  Next year is particularly important for us as Istanbul gears up for its title of European Capital of Culture 2010 and we will all be working together to intensify our promotional efforts in the UK.”

  Deputy Director Gurgezoglu remarks that “I am thrilled to be in the UK at this significant time in Turkey’s cultural and tourism calendar, and together with the TCTO UK team and all our trade and media partners, I will be working hard to highlight our country’s rich cultural and tourism heritage, as well as the exciting cultural energy that’s invigorating the country once again.”  Gurgezoglu studied at Oxford University and won a Chevening scholarship to study at City University in 2007, imparting her with a solid understanding of the UK and its cultural institutions.
