The rally, which will take place in spring 2014 is organised in conjunction with the FHA and a Lithuanian charity who will be the recipients of the funds generated by the initiative.
Dr Raimonda Balniene, Director, Lithuania State Department of Tourism said: "we are delighted to be launching such a high profile event at WTM and support such relevant charities. We feel that this event will position our destination as accessible by road for all including families."
Dr Raimonda Balniene along with key staff from the Lithuania State Department of Tourism and UK representatives will be at hand to discuss the launch of the car rally and provide updates on the destination's plans for 2014.
Lithuania's Tourism Ambassador, accordion virtuoso and UK classical chart topper Martynas Levickis will be visiting the stand on Tuesday 5 November in the late afternoon to play some of his most successful UK chart topping tunes.
In addition to the car rally, the Lithuania Tourist Office will be promoting its new online quiz which gives agents the chance to win many prizes including a Vilnius city break and Martynas Levickis' CDs. Lithuania has recently launched "Likeable Lithuania" a new social media campaign which encourages people to share what they like most about the beautiful Baltic country. The campaign will incorporate Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Youtube, with a target of collecting one million LIKE's and build a new tourist attraction in Lithuania - the world's largest "LIKE" sculpture. Every day there will be announcements about local attractions, facts and unexpected discoveries. In addition, everyone involved in the campaign, will become a shareholder of the world's "LIKE" sculpture and will be awarded a certificate.
As part of the World Responsible Tourism Day, the Lithuania Tourist Office will be sponsoring the World Responsible Tourism Awards which will be the ideal opportunity to highlight the destination's sustainable tourism efforts including Lithuania work on an international Amber Road which aims to link all amber producing countries and promote more eco-friendly ways of exploiting ambre.
Agents visiting the Lithuania stand will have the chance to enter business card prize draw which will give them the chance to win an amber gifts or a £25 Love2Shop voucher.
