Intourmarket 2014 started in Moscow ahead of Mitt

Russia’s travel exhibitions started with Intourmarket 2014 on March 15, 2014 and will continue to host travel professionals and public until March 18 at Crocus Expo in Moscow.

Just after Intourmarket (ITM) – 2014, the 21st Moscow International Exhibition MITT will take place 19-22 March at Expocentre.

The ITM 2014 is opened on Mach 15 with the participation of UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai, Head of Rosturism, federal tourism agency of Russia Alexander Radkov and ITM 2014 Partner Country; Egypt's Tourism Minister Hisham Zaazou.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, UNWTO Secretary General Taleb Rifai stated that they are expecting number of global travelers will grow 4 to 4.5 percent in 2014 compare to 2013 that 1.1 billion people travel around the world last year. Rifai stated that Russia is an important market because 54 million Russian citizens traveled abroad in 2013. With that number Russians are listed world's number 5 in outbound trips and number of tourists visiting Russia exceeded 30 million. All those are enough to make Russia an important tourism market.

Hisham Zaazou said that despite of many events in Egypt last year, we have welcomed 2.5 million Russian tourists. Zaazou added that they are very thankful and hopeful that figures will rise in 2014. Zaazou said they will continue to welcome Russian tourists by serving best service.

itm14-openingTurkey as one of Russia’s favorite holiday destination is showcasing its tourism products with a 1020 sqm stand. Undersecretary at Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey; Mr. Özgür Özaslan said that Russia is Turkey's second biggest market in tourism industry. Özaslan said that 4.2 million Russian travelers visited Turkey in 2013, Turkey expects to host 5 million in 2014.

On the second day of ITM, Head of Rosturism, federal tourism agency of Russia Alexander Radkov and Undersecretary at Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey; Mr. Özgür Özaslan signed "Turkey-Russia 2014-2016 Tourism Action Plan protocol.

As part of the protocol, Russia and Turkey will cooperate to develop tourism.
