Minister Humberto Santos de Brito, the Cabo Verde Minister for Tourism, Industry and Energy and Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture met yesterday to discuss cooperation in the field of Tourism.
The meeting that took place at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Offices at Espace was the opportunity for the two Ministers to look at the historic October meeting called by the UNWTO and ICAO for Tourism and for Transport Ministers. Both Ministers spoke about the importance of air access for their respective island's tourism industries and thus their support for this coming meeting.
They also discussed Cabo Verde's participation in the Festival Kreol that is held in October and also in the April Carnaval International de Victoria that are both held in the seychelles as well as the seychelles participation in the February participation in the carnival in Cabo Verde. The continued support of each other in International Tourism Forums is a point discussed as both Ministers agreed that speaking to defend small island states automatically defended both Seychelles and Cabo Verde at the same time. The proposed Tourism Tax by the African Union was also discussed and both islands said that they remained steadfast in their opposition to that tax that would be seen as a step backward for tourism in Africa as a whole.
