Event Model Generation joins forces with San Diego State University and Meeting Professionals International (MPI) ) to launch the first global certificate in event design. The Event Design Certificate Program is an immersive three-day training course that will innovate the industry by teaching a systematic 10 step visual approach to event design for meeting professionals.
Program participants will learn critical skills that will enable them to design events based on stakeholder needs and then prototype event designs using the #EventCanvas, a strategic management template for developing new or documenting existing events and conference models. The first certificate class will be held 17-19 August 2015 at SDSU’s campus in San Diego and more will be scheduled soon. All successful program participants will be granted 24 continuing education clock hours in Domain G: Meeting & Event Design as defined by the Convention Industry Council (CIC).
In addition, the Event Design Certificate Program is part of a global effort to create a common visual language for events, pioneered by event entrepreneurs Ruud Janssen and Roel Frissen in 2013. By creating the #EventCanvas under a creative commons license to stimulate global adoption, the visual event design methodology is being adopted all around the world. In less than 12 months, the #EventCanvas has been used to design events by more than 1,000 practitioners across 65 countries on all five continents.
Carl H. Winston, Director of SDSU’s School of Hospitality and Tourism Management said, “SDSU believes in innovative and rigorous programs for event executives. We have collaborated with the creators of the #EventCanvas, Janssen & Frissen, previously and are delighted to partner with them to create the Event Design Certificate in collaboration with MPI.”
“MPI is very excited to be involved in the launch of the Event Design Certificate Program with Event Model Generation and SDSU. We have identified this program as an excellent solution to provide career development opportunities to our members in the area of event design innovation,” said Stephanie Arehart, senior director of professional development at MPI.
