The agenda of Erdoğan’s meeting with Obama was fully-loaded, ranging from Turkey’s current peace process to Ankara’s ambitious energy deals.
While heated political topics dominated the agenda - as the crisis in Syria has escalated and Israel-Turkey and Israel-Palestinian relations are on the stage with Erdoğan’s upcoming Gaza trip - the economic agenda was not set on the sidelines.
The visiting delegation stood out as proof to the importance placed on the economic apsect of the visit. Iin addition to Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan and Energy Minister Taner Yıldız, the heads of Turkish business organizations including the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) and the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) as well as 90 business people, all accompanied the prime minister in the U.S..
