From October 24 to 27, 2013, WATA held its 64th General Assembly in Kosice, Slovakia, upon the kind invitation of its exclusive member in this country, Progress Incoming center Sro. In 2013 KOSICE was selected as European City Of Culture and WATA was proud to be associated to this event in organizing its 64th General Assembly in this marvelous city.
WATA delegates could so discover Slovakia, the small country in the heart of Europe with rich cultural traditions and customs, beautiful nature, famous Castles and Chateaux - its fascinating history and architecture and all the lovers of a good wine were invited for an unforgettable wine tasting in the very famous vineyards of Tokaj.
Mr Michel Ayer, President of TPA as well as Mr Jochen Szech, Vice-president ASR and Mr Detlev Meyer, Chairman of International relations in ASR attended the WATA General Assembly as honorary guests.
During this General Assembly, WATA members discussed very important actions for the future of the association, such as cooperation with Mr Meyer on the marketing of the association on the German market and the enlargement of the WATA purely outbound segment to travel agencies which can be recognized as Specialized Travel Agents working on high end services and tailor-made programs.
Furthermore, WATA has elected its new Executive Committee and announced that Mr Moris Kohen Kasar (Moris Tourism Turkey) has been elected President of the Association. On this occasion, Mr Kasar invited WATA to hold its 65th Anniversary in Istanbul in 2014 and the members welcomed this initiative and promised to come to Istanbul in great numbers.
