Helen Beck, the regional sales director at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., stated that the company's Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises would depart from İstanbul in 2014, adding: “Cruises usually stop by İstanbul for a day trip. We will provide customers with two nights' accommodation in İstanbul for them to explore this beautiful city. Turkish people used to join these tours from other cities overseas and they will now have the opportunity to join these tours direct from İstanbul.”
Underlining that Turkey has significant potential in cruise tourism, Beck explained that the company receives great interest from İstanbul in tours going to Venice, Sicily and Black Sea destinations. “We are reaching out to those who demand a different kind of experience and it is also exciting to know that a new port is being constructed in İstanbul. The cost of tours per person is estimated to begin from 1,400 euros,” she said.
Royal Caribbean Turkey Director Bülent Tatlav also noted that İstanbul has been a growing destination with its history and beauty, adding that the new tours will be able to introduce İstanbul to new tourists.
