DEKON Congress and Tourism managed one of the most remarkable forums for environment and resource economists around the world in Istanbul.
The 5th WCERE (World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists) was held in Istanbul between June 28 and July 2, 2014 by DEKON Congress and Tourism at ICEC (Istanbul Convention & Exhibition Centre).
The conference offered countless opportunities to network and learn from some of the brightest leaders in the field of environmental and resource economics. The important sessions covered hot topics like Climate Change, Agriculture and Biodiversity, Environmental Policy Instruments, Transport and Spatial Issues and Water Supply Issues.
It is a privilege for us to host such an important international congress with more than 1000 attendants in Istanbul. Also the social events were as remarkable as the scientific sessions have been. One of the cocktails was held at the 1600 years old 1001 Direk Cistern in Istanbul’s historical Sultanahmet district, where a Whirling Dervishes Show enchanted the participants, a really charming and mystical experience for everyone. The Conference dinner was held at Portaxe Restaurant which is situated at the heart of the Bosporus strait, where the two continents Europe and Asia meet together.
WCERE was held in Venice (1998), Monterey (2002), Kyoto (2006) and Montréal (2010) before Istanbul (2014).
