6.1 million applied for Turkey’s e-visa

evisaIn a move that will make travelling to Turkey simpler and easier, the Foreign Ministry of Turkey introduced e-visa system in April 2013. A total of 6.1 million people applied and 88 percent of those applications were approved leading to 5.5 million people obtaining a visa online.

When it is launched, an average of 2 thousand e-visas issued every week. Today Turkey issues more than 10 thousand e-visa daily. During summer season, Turkey issues an average of 40 thousand e-visas daily. Turkey issued the most e-visa on 7 August 2014 with a total of 44 thousand e-visas.

Britons were the most frequent users of the e-Visa system with 1.6 million applications while the Dutch came second with over 600,000 applications. The other countries that topped the list, ranked third through 10th, were Iraq, Belgium, Poland, the U.S., Norway, Austria, Saudi Arabia and Spain.

Visitors can simply visit, fill in their details, make payment and download their e-Visas prior to their travels up to 24 hours before travel.
