Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) today announced Turkey's tourism income in the first quarter of 2015 (Jan. - March). Compare to the same period last year, Turkey's tourism income is increased by 1.3 percent. Highlights of TUIK's report are as follows:
Tourism income in the Q1 is increased by 1.3% and reached US$4,868 billion.
78.8% of the income is received from foreign tourists and 21.2% are from the citizens that are residing abroad.
Spending on individual tours accounted as US$4,457 billion whereas US$411 million spending are on package tours
Average spending per traveler is US$884 (foreign tourists), US$994 (citizens residing abroad)
Turkey welcomed more than 5.3 million visitors in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 5.5 percent from the same quarter in 2014.
