Constructed by TAV-Al Arrab Contracting Joint Venture in Riyadh, King Khaled Airport Terminal 5 Project was awarded the "Transportation Project of the Year" at “MEED Quality Awards for Projects” competition held by MEED Magazine in Dubai.
Terminal 5 Project is a milestone for the development of the airport, which is the entrance gate to Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia.
TAV Group CEO Sani Şener stated: “We are proud to be presented this award by MEED, one of the most reputable publications in the sector, for three years in a row with the projects that we carried out in the Gulf Region, which is the most challenging market in the world. This year, we are presented the award for Riyadh Airport Terminal 5 Project, which was constructed by TAV-ACC Joint Venture, while we were awarded the same award for our Hamad Airport and Madinah Airport projects in previous years. TAV has its signature in the capital city airports of six countries in the Gulf Region. TAV will continue to represent Turkey in airport construction and operations sector, provide employment opportunities for young Turkish population and train them to become effective players in the global market".
Riyadh Terminal 5 Project was the third project of TAV Construction in Saudi Arabia, following Jeddah Airport Aircraft Maintenance Hangars and Madinah Airport projects. Covering an area of 106,000 sqm, the terminal can provide service to seven wide-bodies or 16 narrow-bodied aircraft at the same time. The contract of TAV-ACC JV also included multi-storey car park having a capacity of 2,400 vehicles and airport operation center, fire brigade, power plant, apron, air side infrastructure, viaducts that connect the terminal to the existing terminals and infrastructure works.
TAV Group has also been operating Madinah Airport in Saudi Arabia. Recently, the company has been awarded for the development and operation of three more airports in the country.
