The 31st International Izmir Festival organized by İzmir Foundation for Culture, Arts and Education (İKSEV) will be held between June 1 and July 4, 2017. A total of 284 artists who will take part in the festival will meet the audience at Ahmed Adnan Saygun Arts Center, Izmir State Theatre Konak Stage, Çeşme Castle and the Great Theatre of Ephesus.
International Izmir Festival with its qualified programs and efforts to bring historical places together with art, thus being placed near the top, presents a lively program in its 31st year. The 31st International Izmir Festival which will start with Yunus Emre Oratorio on June 01 will end with the concert of L’Orchestre de Contrebasses on July 04, 2017 Tuesday at 21.00 at AASSM Concert Hall.
The 31st International Izmir Festival expresses sincere thanks to the immortal name of our contemporary music Ahmed Adnan Saygun at his one hundred and tenth birthday. Yunus Emre Oratorio which was performed at the 1. International Izmir Festival, 31 years ago, in the presence of Saygun, will be performed on June 01, 2017, Thursday at AASSM Concert Hall by Izmir State Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Choir under the direction of conductor Aytuğ Ülgen.
The first oratorio of Turkey the great master completed in 1942 will be performed by Soprano Mehlika Karadeniz Bilgin, mezzosoprano Ferda Yetişer, tenor Devrim Demirel and bass Engin Suna as soloists. Saygun's work which was composed based on poems by Yunus Emre was first performed in Ankara in 1946. The oratorio which was described as “the greatest art achievement of Turkish Revolution History” by Selahattin Batu who wrote librettos of Kerem and Köroğlu Operas, was translated to English, French, German and Hungarian, was performed in New York, Budapest, Vienna, Bremen, Berlin, Vatican and Moscow.
İKSEV who has brought the world's most famous ballet companies, choreographers and dancers to İzmir for 31 years, will host one of the greatest names of contemporary dance Dani Pannullo DanceTheatre Co. The performance organized in collaboration with Embassy of Spain in Ankara, Turkey will be held on June 05, 2017 Monday at 21.00 at AASSM Concert Hall.
Dani Pannullo DanceTheatre Co. dancers will do a workshop on June 04, 2017 Sunday at IKSEV Building.
Izmir State Theatre, celebrating their 60th year takes part in the 31st International Izmir Festival with the great author Necati Cumali’s play “Gömü – Bir Küp Altın”. The play which will be staged on June 07, 2017 Wednesday at 21.00 at Izmir State Theatre Konak Stage will be directed by Metin Oyman.
The 31st International Izmir Festival will host Alti & Bassi, one of the few of world's a-cappella groups, in collaboration with İzmir Consulate of the Republic of Italy on June 09, 2017 Friday at 21.00 at Çeşme Castle. Alti & Bassi who was awarded “Best A Cappella song” with their album "La nave dei sogni" in 2016 The Akademia Music Award in Los Angeles, is one of the most wanted groups for festivals.
The legendary virtuoso Nigel Kennedy, who got into the book of Guinness World Records as the best-selling classical violinist of all time, brings rock and classical music lovers at the 31st International İzmir Festival together with his project Nigel Kennedy Plays Hendrix where he realized his youth dreams. The concert with the program sponsorship of Petkim will take place on June 15, 2017 Thursday at 21.00 at AASSM Concert Hall.
Vienna Chamber Orchestra, which has played with the most important soloists of the classical music world until now, accompanies composer and performer Fazıl Say, one the brightest stars today, at the 31st International İzmir Festival. Vienna Chamber Orchestra, directed by conductor Ola Rudner at the Ephesus Antique Theater, will perform with virtuoso and composer Fazıl Say, one of the most productive artists of our time, on June 20, 2017 Tuesday at 21.00 at the Great Theatre of Ephesus. They will present a program consisting of Beethoven’s Coriolan” Ouverture, Mozart’s No. 12 A major Piano Concerto and Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s No. 4 “Italian” Symphony.
The 31st International Izmir Festival invites audiences to meet the immortal examples of "fasil" music, the historical essence of classical Turkish music, on June 21, 2017 Wednesday at 21.00 at AASSM Concert Hall. Ege University State Conservatory of Turkish Music Classical Turkish Music Chorus, under the direction of Halil İbrahim Yüksel, will present the most beautiful examples of Fasil of classical Turkish music from 14th century to 19th century. This concert is also open to public with free invitations.
Paweł Kowalski will perform at the concert in collaboration with Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in İstanbul and Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in İzmir on June 22, 2017 Wednesday at 21.00 at AASSM Concert Hall. Kowalski, one of the genius virtuosos of piano, will present a program consisting of the works of Mozart, Paderewski, Beethoven, Chopin and Scriabin.

Giora Feidman again after fourteen years.
