Jorge Gutierrez has been appointed General Manager of the soon-to-open Hilton Garden Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez and will report to Daniel Hughes, senior vice president, operations, Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America, Hilton Worldwide.

Gutierrez most recently served as general manager of the Hilton Villahermosa & Conference Center where he opened the property and handled hotel operations for the past five years. 

With over 20 years of hospitality experience, Gutierrez was first introduced to the tourism industry when serving in operational roles including front office manager, director of rooms and resident manager for international hotel companies including Hyatt Corporation and Starwood Hotels in Mexico.  In 1999 he joined Hilton Worldwide where he managed the conversion of the Hilton Cancun Golf & Spa Resort and served as general manager.  Throughout his career, Gutierrez also gained significant experience in hotel openings.

Gutierrez holds a Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management from Universidad Hispano Mexicana in Mexico City.

Scheduled to open early 2011, Hilton Garden Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez is located in the capital city of the state of Chiapas, Mexico.  The hotel will feature 167 guest rooms, all boasting the Garden Sleep System®, allowing guests to adjust the firmness and softness of the bed, ergonomic Mirra® chair by Herman Miller, LCD high definition flat screen television, clock with MP3 connectivity, a spacious work desk, and a "hospitality center" that features a microwave, mini refrigerator and coffee maker. 

For dining options, the hotel will feature a full-service restaurant offering freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner, room service, and the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry® shop with a selection of delicious ready made meals, beverages and snacks.

Recreational facilities will include an outdoor swimming pool, complimentary fitness center featuring Precor® cardio and strength training equipment, and Stay Fit Kits® that can be checked out from the hotel front desk and enable guests to do yoga, Pilates and core workouts in the privacy of their guestroom or in the workout facility.

Travelers to the Hilton Garden Inn Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas will also have access to 3,000 square feet of flexible meeting spaces, 27,000 square feet of convention center facilities, as well as signature Hilton Garden Inn brand attributes such as complimentary Wi-Fi and a 24-hour business center.
