Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts announced the appointment of Mr. Andrew Langston as Area General Manager of Banyan Tree Bangkok, Samui, Laos and Maldives.
Mr. Langston is responsible for ensuring the urban hotel operates in line with the Group’s mission statement, meeting fiscal and qualitative objectives. He will be leading, coordinating and supervising the entire operational activities of the 61-storey iconic hotel in Bangkok.
He is also responsible for the full operational spectrum of four premier island resorts: Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, Banyan Tree Madivaru, Angsana Ihuru and Angsana Velavaru all in the Maldives; as well as Banyan Tree Samui and sister property Maison Souvannaphoum Hotel in Laos. Prior to moving to Bangkok, Mr. Langston served for two years as the Area General Manager of Banyan Tree Hotels in the Maldives.
He previously served 20 years with the Intercontinental Group in a variety of roles, including Regional General Manager for its Northern Territory Portfolio of Australia, then relocated to Hua Hin in 2006 with the same group before joining Banyan Tree in 2008 at our Bintan properties.
Born in Marlow, England, Mr. Langston attended nearby Thanet College, where he trained extensively in Food and Beverage. Early in his career, in 1981, he had the privilege of living and working at Buckingham Palace. As a footman, he attended to Her Majesty the Queen and other family members, including the Prince and Princess of Wales. On State visits he also met with many foreign dignitaries, Presidents, Prime Ministers, and members of other royal families from around the globe.
