Karla DiNardo, president of NTA Services Inc., has been named to the advisory board for the retailing and tourism management department at the University of Kentucky.
The board, composed of leaders from Kentucky tourism organizations, attractions and retailers, provides guidance to students and the university.
“We are honored that these successful industry leaders are giving their time to create opportunities for students and to help the retailing and tourism management department develop resources,” said Dr. Nancy Cox, dean of the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, which houses the retailing and tourism management department.
The department offers two majors: Hospitality Management & Tourism and Merchandising, Apparel & Textiles. The board is tasked with assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the programs, providing students with career advice and identifying industry problems that students and faculty could solve through research.
“I’m eager to help students explore careers in tourism,” said DiNardo, who is developing opportunities for student interns at NTA, headquartered in Lexington. “And I think our NTA team can benefit from interacting with students who bring a new perspective to our industry and our association.”
Two students and two faculty members will join the regional industry leaders on the board of advisors.
