China Tang Hong Kong announced the appointment of three-star Michelin Chef Albert Au Kwok Keung as Executive Chef of Lai Sun F&B Management (Chinese Division).
As the youngest three Michelin-starred Chinese cuisine chef, Chef Au’s culinary achievement will bring a new dimension to China Tang Hong Kong, where diners can expect an array of delicious classic culinary creations with a modern twist from the brand new Tasting Menu.
Chef Au started his culinary career at his age of 14, and twenty-five years later he remains passionate about the art of fine Chinese cuisine. He has worked at a variety of restaurants in Hong Kong and China. In 2007 he has garnered recognition when he was invited to the famous state banquet at the historic Beijing Hotel where he served dishes to such former heads of state as Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao and Li Peng. Chef Au called it a defining moment and this milestone in his career encouraged him to seek new heights of excellence.
Chef Au then returned to Hong Kong in 2009 and took up the position of Executive Chef at Island Tang within Lai Sun Group. Known as Hong Kong’s ‘celebrity canteen’ during his tenure there he specialized in the use of high quality ingredients sourced from around the world. The roaring success of his crafted menu led trends within Cantonese cuisine in Hong Kong to new levels. He won a Michelin star for Island Tang for three consecutive years in 2010, 2011 and 2012. In 2014 he picked up three Michelin stars for The Eight in Macau making him become the world’s youngest three Michelin starred Chinese chef.
At China Tang Hong Kong, he oversees all conceptualization and creation of cuisine. Having a constant drive to find a new angle, and never satisfied with yesterday’s accomplishments, Chef Au is always striving for new inspirations.
