The process of finding a successor to Lennart Mankert, President of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre, took place in the autumn.
"We've had many highly qualified candidates, which is pleasing as this reflects both the attractiveness of the position and the strength of our business," says Roger Holtback, Chairman of the Board.
On 18 December, the Board of Directors appointed Carin Kindbom as new President and CEO of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre. Carin Kindbom is currently President and CEO of STS Student Travel Schools AB.
"The mission of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre is to promote business and industry in western Sweden. One of the main ways it does this is by working closely with business, industry, the university and the municipality. We're now facing increased global competition with all that this entails in new and exciting business opportunities. We are convinced that Carin Kindbom possesses the ability and leadership skills required for the continued successful development of the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre," says Roger Holtback.
Carin Kindbom was born and raised locally on the west coast of Sweden. Her ten years of management assignments within the Hogia Group gained her solid experience in the IT industry. She comes to the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre from the position of President and CEO of STS Student Travel Schools AB, an international group, headquartered in Göteborg, operating in more than 20 markets.
"The Board of Directors has given me the exciting challenge of leading the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's team of dedicated employees in further growing the business. I have fruitful experience in establishing and developing working relationships, cooperation and partnerships, and I'm extremely pleased and excited to have been entrusted with the task of continuing the successful work of realising the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre's vision of fostering world-class meetings," says Carin Kindbom.
Carin Kindbom will take up her position upon Lennart Mankert's retirement in 2010. Petter Ullberg will remain as Executive Vice President and Deputy CEO. Ulrika Carlsson, Head of the Exhibitions & Meetings Division, has been appointed Vice President.
