Millions to travel during the 4th of July holiday weekend

Millions of American and residents of United States will hit the road to enjoy out-of-city travel from Thursday since the nation’s Independence Day; 4th of July, fell on Thursday this year.

Las-Vegas fireworksThis holiday weekend, 40.8 million Americans are expected to travel 50 miles or more, according to AAA. For those traveling, 84 percent are expected to go by car, 8 percent by plane and 8 percent via other means, according to AAA.

Drivers may be relieved to know gas prices fell for the third year at the start of the summer driving season, the American Automobile Association said. Average US gas prices dropped just a hair below $3.50 a gallon this week, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
