On a working mission in the Seychelles Islands to prepare a road map for the island's delegation and their participation in Festival Kreol, Mrs Catherine Chane Kune and her two member delegation met the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange to gain his input and expectations on La Reunion Island’s contribution to Festival Kreol 2013. Minister Alain St.Ange who headed the meeting together with Benjamine Rose, the Principal Secretary for Culture, and Miera Savy, Director of International Cooperation in the Ministry of Tourism and Culture confirmed the proposed strong presence of La Reunion Island for the upcoming Festival. He said that compared to previous years, this time the delegation will consist of four aspects of cooperation, namely culture, renewable energy, artisans and commerce. Minister St.Ange claimed that the strong presence of La Reunion delegation in Festival Kreol 2013 will give further boost the existing cooperation between France and Seychelles.
“ We’ve made an appeal to La Reunion Island to be very present in this upcoming Festival Kreol for the simple reason that we wanted to give a new dynamism to this cooperation Seychelles - Reunion, the two sister Islands with a strong cultural bond,’’ Alain St.Ange, Minister for Tourism and Culture said.
Catherine Chane Kune, the Director of Culture and Sports in La Reunion said that the meeting with Minister Alain St.Ange was an opportunity to take stock of what Seychelles expects from the La Reunion delegation participating in Festival Kreol 2013, and to take note of the new dynamism that Seychelles anticipates to bring in the festival itself. She said that La Reunion Island has always responded positively to the Seychelles invitation to take part in Festival Kreol.
“ Today I believe that I can come out and openly say that La Reunion Island will be present for Festival Kreol 2013, and we will boost up our efforts to make our presence seen and heard. We will be in Seychelles alongside other Creole speaking countries to make this edition of the Festival Kreol a resounding success,’’ Catherine Chane Kune said.
Mrs Chane Kune also explained that La Reunion Island’s participation in Festival Kreol was a point tabled by Minister St.Ange to President Didier Robert, the La Reunion President of the Regional Council when they met in La Reunion recently.
