The 2.0 version of Thomson’s travel companion, which enables customers to manage their holiday from the palm of their hands, went live in the App Store today (Thursday 25th July), now with new and improved functionality.
The app provides a ‘one stop shop’ for all the information Thomson customers need at their fingertips once they have booked their holiday. Information like flight details, luggage allowance, maps and current weather have been available since the launch in May, with the following new features now included:
Whether customers need to remember to book a cattery or arrange travel insurance, they can note it down on the to-do list which will help them tick everything off before they need to fly. Plus, the inclusion of an interactive packing list will ensure nothing is left at home.
This feature allows customers to check out the exchange rate for currency in their destination, find the nearest shop to order foreign exchange or learn about the benefits of a Travel Money Card.
Customers can plan how much currency to buy for their holiday or use the converter while abroad to work out how much their holiday souvenirs cost.
More social sharing
In addition to sharing the ever popular holiday countdown, weather and favorite excursions on Facebook and Twitter, customers can now share their hotel and destination to make their friends green with envy of their beautiful surroundings.
We support customers every step of their holiday countdown with timely reminders about things they need to do before they go, updates should any details change and the odd tip about offers on our holiday extras.
Jeremy Ellis, Marketing Director for Thomson, said: “New technology plays an increasingly important role in our efforts to modernize our business. Not only for the traveler, but also to ensure we can continue to enhance our understanding of what holidaymakers need and want, so we can create the best possible holiday experiences.
”We also recognize that technology is constantly evolving and we’ve launched MyThomson 2.0 in response to feedback from users and holidaymakers. As a business we’re dedicated to innovation and are always looking to improve our services.”
The app, which was trialed to more than 15,000 holidaymakers in May 2013, has received a 4-star average review rating and, on 19th June, it was ranked number one among the free travel apps chart in the Apple App Store. With an initial prediction of 50,000 downloads by September, MyThomson has exceeded expectations and plans are already in place to further enhance the app.
