The Nordic Travel Fair Matka will open its doors for the professionals of the travel industry on Thursday, January 16.
According to a survey issued by the Nordic Travel Fair Matka, the most popular type of trip is self-planned and booked. These types of trips attract almost 50 % of Finns.
The second and third most popular travel types were the readymade package deals and all inclusive trips. According to the survey, one fifth of Finns dream of pampering themselves with the luxurious all-inclusive trips. In general the interest towards different types of trips has increased from last year, which indicates that Finns are more and more open-minded towards exploring the world in different ways.
According to the survey made by TNS Gallup for the Nordic Travel Fair Matka, Finns prefer European countries, the Baltic countries and other Nordic countries. The same popular destinations hold their position as number ones in the hearts of the Finnish travelers. However, more remote destinations are gaining popularity as 14 % of Finns are planning a trip to Africa, Asia or South America. This number was 11 % last year.
Finns also have plans to travel in Finland. Only 2 % anticipated not to travel at all in Finland this year. Half of the domestic travel is directed to visiting relatives and friends. The second most popular destination is one’s own or rented cottage. When travelling abroad Finns prefer visiting cities, beach resorts or taking cruises. The travel plans for the year 2014 were examined in a survey issued by the Nordic Travel Fair Matka.
