Hollywood’s popular actor Liam Neeson, who rose to prominence with his acclaimed starring role in Steven Spielberg's 1993 Oscar winner Schindler's List and lately with his role in Taken, partners with Tourism Ireland. Liam Neeson and Tourism Ireland are putting a call out to anyone with a love of, or interest in, Ireland.
Tourism Ireland today launched a new 60-second film featuring the voice of the famous Irish actor to encourage prospective holidaymakers from around the world to come and visit the island of Ireland this year. The film includes fabulous footage shot around Ireland, interwoven with some wonderful images from Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative, which sees famous landmarks and iconic sites illuminated in green each year to celebrate St Patrick’s Day.
The film will be shared by Tourism Ireland with its Facebook fans (almost three million worldwide) and Twitter followers (226,000+) and on its YouTube channel – shining a spotlight on some of the many great things to see and do here. The film will be also distributed to influential international travel and lifestyle media, through an extensive publicity and PR campaign. The aim of the online campaign is to create a clear and distinctive link between the very successful Global Greening initiative and holidays on the island of Ireland.
Liam Neeson said, “I’m delighted to be helping Tourism Ireland celebrate St Patrick’s Day. It will be wonderful to see the world turn green again on 17 March as nations come together to celebrate the fun and warmth of the Irish.”
The #GoGreen4PatricksDay online campaign is part of Tourism Ireland’s extensive programme of consumer, media and trade promotions under way across the world this spring. In total, Tourism Ireland will spend €21.5/£17.4 million promoting the island of Ireland around the globe in the first half of 2015.
