Jumeirah Carlton Tower in London Closes In September For A Completely Refurbishment

Jumeirah Group, the global luxury hospitality company and a member of Dubai Holding, announced its proposed plans to completely refurbish the Jumeirah Carlton Tower, Jumeirah’s flagship hotel in the heart of London’s fashionable Knightsbridge.

The anticipated hotel’s transformation is expected to begin on 1 September 2019 with a planned completion date of summer 2020. During this time, the hotel would stop receiving guests to allow for the comprehensive works to take place.

The extensive refurbishment project will cover all areas of the seventeen storey building. Interiors will be significantly remodelled to include a redesigned and enriched guest arrival experience at the hotel lobby entrance, the creation of a celebrity destination restaurant on Sloane Street, a rejuvenated rooftop health club overlooking Cadogan Gardens and a new state-of-the-art design Spa, with its 20m indoor pool.

All guestrooms and suites are planned to be completely refurbished to a new level of luxury standards. The number of keys will reduce from 216 to 188 with the introduction of new Signature Suites and Junior Suites which will capitalise on the hotel’s stunning views of the London skyline and the private Cadogan Place Gardens.

London-based design studio 1508 London has been appointed to reimagine the comeback and repositioning of London’s mythical Carlton Tower. Known for their exceptional private residences and interiors, 1508 London will draw on the Jumeirah Carlton Tower’s history and prestige within the local community, its quintessential London location and modernist architecture as inspiration for its designs.

José Silva, CEO of Jumeirah Group commented: “We are thrilled to announce our plans for the complete refurbishment of Jumeirah Carlton Tower. This project is a significant investment in the heart of Knightsbridge and is undertaken with the greatest attention to detail. A priority is to ensure that the new Jumeirah Carlton Tower will continue to be a cornerstone for the local community as well as an undisputed leader in the luxury hospitality world. This stunning re-imagining will contribute greatly to the repositioning of Jumeirah globally.”

Opening its doors in 1961 as The Carlton Tower, the hotel gained an international reputation as a beacon of British style and sophistication. It was the first modern five-star property to open in London’s chic Knightsbridge district, and at the time, was the tallest hotel in London.
