100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London was formerly the home of Victorian aristocrat William Henry Alexander, and has been stunningly transformed into a hotel that embraces the building’s heritage, retaining much of its original 1870s architecture. William Alexander, a lawyer by profession, became well known not only for his wealth, but also his eclectic collection of oriental jewels and curios, collected on his exotic travels to the Far East.

The hotel’s interior and unique design reflects the rich history of the Victorian terrace building, capturing the adventurous spirit of William Alexander and his Victorian contemporaries. The design elements of the hotel have been specially designed to spark curiosity and inspire guests to explore the delights of both Kensington and the great city beyond.

“Our neighbourhood of Kensington & Knightsbridge embodies the spirit of London, a city that combines an unrivalled and deep history with a fierce determination to define the contemporary,” says Doogan. “With the opening of 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London, we believe we have captured this spirit and brought it to life with our own unique story. The hotel is thoughtfully designed, in keeping with the building’s Victorian history – from the cabinets of curiosities and décor, to Botanica, the Victorian-inspired orangery.”

In addition, 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London features three new food and beverage venues, introducing the following stylish new destinations to the area, alongside state-of-the-art facilities for guests.

W/A Kensington

W/A Kensington is the hotel’s elegant all-day brasserie and bar and the ideal place to dine and relax. The menu offers a contemporary take on British-French fusion cuisine – the perfect setting to enjoy a lazy weekend brunch.

Botanica

The brasserie leads on to the beautiful Botanica, which draws inspiration from an authentic Victorian orangery, housed in a beautiful botanical glasshouse with and abundance of luxurious greenery and planting. The elegant atrium is flooded with natural light and curated by Whittard Teas of Chelsea – the ideal place for indulgent afternoon teas and cocktails.

ESQ

The hotel’s ESQ bar has been designed as a discreet drinking den, inspired by the parlour bar of former resident William Alexander and his exotic travels. Here guests can explore crafted cocktails and innovatively infused spirits, in a relaxing and intimate ‘home away from home’ setting, complete with eclectic curios and artifacts evoking the grand expeditions of a bygone era. Two neighbouring private dining rooms can also be booked for an exclusive gastronomical experience or intimate meetings.

Gymnasium

The gym draws inspiration from Victorian gymnasiums which were a trend in wealthier establishments at the time. The décor features dark paneling with wooden flooring, alongside modern gym equipment.

Designed in collaboration with UK-based architects Morrison Design and interior design companies DesignLSM and Newman Gauge, 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel – London is ideally located in close proximity to many of London’s most recognised visitor attractions including Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, the Natural History Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Harrods.
