The New Riu Playa Park Opens in Mallorca

The international RIU chain, which was founded in Mallorca by the Riu family in 1953, has announced the opening of the new Riu Playa Park on the island of Mallorca.

RIU is in the midst of the process of renovating its entire international hotel range and chose here to go one step further. After knocking down the old Riu Playa Park, which the chain has had since 1982, a new four-star hotel was built that will surprise guests with its modern construction and services, and with which the chain brings together the best of its accumulated experience over recent years.

“When we considered renovating Riu Playa Park, we decided to make a bigger investment and build a new hotel which means we can go up a category and attract new customers with more of a family profile. The total investment comes to more than 35 million euros and I think our customers will really appreciate the result,” explains Luis Riu, CEO of RIU Hotels. “After this project, the only renovation left to do in Mallorca is the Riu Concordia, which will start at the end of this year and is scheduled for completion in spring 2020.”

Riu Playa Park is located a few meters from the beachfront and it offers 24-hour all-inclusive service and free WiFi in all its facilities. It has a total of 475 spacious rooms, equipped with everything needed to guarantee its guests’ comfort. The new style of the rooms combines cheerful colors with simple lines that result in a sense of freshness and a peaceful and very Mediterranean atmosphere. As innovation in its hotels on this island, RIU decided to include 17 exclusive rooms with private-use pools in this hotel.

With a view to offering an authentic and high-quality range of cuisine, Riu Playa Park has a main restaurant, “Mallorca”, and a themed restaurant, “Spices”. The main restaurant serves up the best Spanish and international dishes in the form of complete buffets, which are themed twice a week. The themed restaurant is open for dinners and its cuisine varies over the week. In addition, guests can try the snacks served at the grill, “Pepe’s Food”.

The lobby bar, “Mediterráneo”, and the pool’s swim-up bar, “Cala Blava”, complete the range of food and drink at the new Riu Playa Park, the former offering a snacks and drinks service throughout the night. The latter offers guests the chance to enjoy their favorite drinks and cocktails whilst cooling off in the pool. In addition, the hotel has a further two pools: the main one has built-in lounge chairs, and the other is heated.

The hotel also offers guest parking and a gym for those who want to keep up their routine over the holidays. What’s more, a stage near the “Cala Blava” bar, which stays open until midnight, provides the hotel with nighttime entertainment in the form of shows and live music.
