The Oaks Toowoomba Hotel

Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites Opens New Hotel in Toowoomba

An industry leader in modern residential-style accommodations and a member of the Global Hotel Alliance (GHA); Oaks Hotels, Resorts & Suites had made its move on Queensland’s largest inland city, Toowoomba.

The Oaks Toowoomba Hotel, featuring 102 suites in a new-built five-story development, has opened its doors on 1 July 2020. The hotel is located on Kwong Sang Walk, which pays tribute to the town’s multicultural community, and is part of the ongoing revitalisation of Ruthven Street in the CBD.

Comprising spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom hotel rooms and suites, each accommodation type offers a private balcony and modern furnishings. Two- and three-bedroom rooms also include kitchenette facilities.

Hotel facilities include an indoor swimming pool, gym and function centre, with on-site dining including the Oak & Vine restaurant serving a modern Australian menu, and contemporary pub The Rock. Conference facilities can accommodate up to 500 guests, with a variety of room configurations to suit everything from a small classroom to a full banquet or cocktail event. The development is also home to retail spaces including Profile Hair Designs and clothing boutique Ivy Design Collections.

Just 90 minutes west of Queensland’s capital of Brisbane, this regional city – fondly referred to as the state’s ‘Garden City’ – is set high on the edge of the Great Dividing Range and overlooks the Lockyer Valley.

A major hub for health, agriculture, manufacturing, industry and education, Toowoomba is characterised by historical architecture and landmarks, a vibrant street art scene, exquisite gardens and tree-lined neighbourhoods, and the iconic Cobb & Co Museum – which traces the history of the region’s fascinating horse-drawn transport era.

Mr. Craig Hooley, Chief Operating Officer of Minor Hotels – Australia & New Zealand – said the company is pleased to open the property in efforts to bring regional travellers to the area to support local business.

“It’s been a challenging year for tourism in regional locations, first with devastating bushfires and then the COVID-19 pandemic. We’re delighted to welcome guests back to our hotels as restrictions begin to ease across the country, and we are confident local Toowoomba businesses will benefit from tourists returning to this historic city.”

“The expansion of the Oaks’ property portfolio to Toowoomba allows us to continue to realise our vision of being the future global leader and innovator in apartment-style business and tourist accommodation – a vision that has been growing for almost 30 years” Hooley commented.

Mr. Kenneth Wagner, developer of the Oaks Toowoomba Hotel said, “We’re excited to welcome locals and tourists alike to Oaks Toowoomba Hotel and our premium restaurants and retailers, and look forward to seeing more life in Kwong Sang Walk in coming weeks and months.”

Oaks properties across Australia have implemented ‘SureStay’ cleaning measures, with hospital grade cleaning measures across all areas of each property including guest rooms, common areas and back-of-house, ensuring the health and wellbeing of all guests. Government regulations around social distancing are observed by all staff.
