Airport taxis can be one of the biggest – and costliest downfalls of your trips.
New Zealand-based Digital Hothouse did a survey of taxi fares from airports to city centres around the world for a car rental company.
The survey, conducted on June 28, included cities in Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom.
It found Christchurch (New Zealand) to have the highest average taxi fare in dollars per kilometre at $A4.20/km, closely followed by Queenstown at $A4.09/km.
2 New Zealand airports are the most expensive airports in the world to hire a taxi from airport to the city centre. The 4 international airports in NZ are in the top 7 and the other 3 are Australian airports. London Heathrow is the most expensive airport outside of Australasia.
