Edelweiss starts direct flights to Seychelles from Switzerland

Minister Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Finance was at Seychelles International Airport accompanied by Officials of the Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation and the Tourism Board to welcome the arrival of the inaugural Edelweiss Air direct non-stop flight from Switzerland.

Edelweiss is scheduled to operate a weekly flight to Seychelles for selected months but hinted that they may increase the flights after the initial period. Europe remains the key target market for the Seychelles tourism industry and the arrival of a new airline is seen as positive news.

The Minister responsible for Finance who held the tourism portfolio before the last Ministerial reshuffle said that Seychelles needed to put extra efforts on Europe to ensure the air carriers and the islands were both winners.

Starting in summer 2019, Edelweiss will also expand its existing services to Mauritius and the Seychelles, offering year-round flights to these dream destinations. Flights from Zurich straight to Mahé (Seychelles) depart on Saturdays, and from Zurich straight to Mauritius on Tuesdays and Fridays.
