United restarts Nonstop Flights from Houston to Acapulco

United Airlines recently announced the reactivation of the seasonal nonstop flight from Houston’s George Bush International Airport (IAH) to Acapulco International Airport (ACA).

Since November 3rd, the flight began operating once a week and will increase to four times a week after mid-December. The route will be available until August of 2019 and is part of Acapulco’s continuous efforts to make the destination more accessible to international visitors.

“We are delighted to welcome back United Airlines’ service between Houston and Acapulco as we continue to show international visitors why we are Mexico’s original beach destination,” said Ernesto Rodríguez Escalona, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guerrero. The reactivation of the nonstop flight is welcomed with Acapulco’s new state-of-the-art airport terminal that increased arrival capacity and ease of flow of passengers.

On November 3rd, 2018, flight UA 6206 departed IAH at 12:03PM and arrived at ACA at 01:04 PM. Flight UA 6202 departed ACA at 02:19PM and arrived at IAH at 06:08PM.

The reactivation of the international route arrives right after a successful summer season with a staggering 11 percent increase in visitors and continuous high average occupancy hotel rates. International visitors to Acapulco will be able to enjoy from the iconic world-famous Cliff Divers from La Quebrada, to XTASEA, the world’s largest over-the-ocean zipline that was inaugurated last year. This attraction is part of a billion-dollar investment from Grupo Autofin, a private conglomerate that is also renovating the most iconic hotels in the city.

In addition to the United nonstop flight from Houston, Canadian airlines Sunwing and Air Transat have announced the reactivation of their season flights from Montreal and Toronto. Sunwing’s service from Montreal will resume on December 19th, and from Toronto on January 2nd, 2019. Air Transat’s flight from Montreal will begin on December 18th. All Canadian flights will operate until March of 2019.

Acapulco also has an exciting lineup of gastronomic and cultural events coming this holiday season. On November 23 and 24, Hotel ElCano’s 9th edition of Festival de Pescado y Mariscos,  will feature a mouthwatering seafood menu. Musical enthusiasts will enjoy the complimentary performances by the Acapulco Philharmonic Orchestra, part of their 20th Anniversary Concert Series several times in November and December. These special performances led by the Director Eduardo Alvarez take place in the Juan Ruiz de Alarcón Theater in the International Convention Center of Acapulco.
