Summer brings double digit growth in International Travel to Orlando

Double digit growth at Orlando MCO

International passenger traffic at Orlando International Airport (MCO) saw double-digit growth in June, marking eight consecutive months of such an increase. With a 12.81 percent increase in year-over-year statistics, more than 600,000 international travelers arrived to or departed from Orlando International in June.

In total, more than 4.2 million passengers traveled through Orlando International in June, the first full month of the region’s summer travel season. Domestic arrivals and departures also were on the rise in June with a year-over-year increase of more than five percent.

June’s increases reflect an increase in seasonal and year-round air service.

 

 

Southwest, Frontier, and Spirit airlines added all-new year-round service to domestic locations like Cincinnati, San Diego and Charlotte, N.C. Canada-based carrier Swoop launched twice-weekly service to Edmonton, the capital of Canada’s Alberta province.

Domestic seasonal service launched in June included service to Nashville, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Washington/DCA and Oklahoma City. Seasonal international service started in June included flights to Monterrey, Mexico, and Glasgow, Scotland.

 

 

June 2019 Statistical Data:

Domestic traffic was up 4.36 percent with 3,680,684 arrivals and departures

International passenger volume was up 12.81 percent with 601,124 passengers

Combined passenger traffic totaled 4,281,808, a 5.47 percent increase year-over-year for June

With more than 49 million annual passengers, Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the busiest airport in Florida and 10th busiest in the U.S. MCO is currently engaged in a $4.2 billion Capital Improvement Program to increase capacity and enhance customer convenience.
