Daytona Beach International Airport Launches Two New Nonstop Flights with Avelo Airlines

Volusia County Council members, Dayton Beach International Airport leadership team and Avelo Airlines representatives recently marked the inauguration of two new, nonstop flights to/from New Haven, CT and Wilmington, DE.

The celebratory events included a ribbon cutting for the inaugural flight from New Haven on June 22, a welcome reception with cake for arriving passengers, and a goodie bag reception with cake for passengers from Wilmington on June 23. The airport’s Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) crew also welcomed both flights with a water salute.

Avelo Airlines’ Chairman and CEO, Andrew Levy expressed his excitement about providing service to Daytona Beach, stating, “Daytona Beach – it’s officially time to say hello to Avelo! We’re excited to begin service to Southern Connecticut and Philadelphia, bringing Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability, and caring service to Daytona Beach. These routes also offer Connecticut and Philly-area Customers with easy hometown airport access to everything Daytona has to offer just in time for summer.”

Airport Director Karen Feaster expressed gratitude to the airport and airline teams for their efforts leading up to the inaugural day and highlighted the positive economic impact of the two new flights.

“The economic impact of these two new weekly Avelo fights is estimated at more than $5 million annually,” said Feaster. The airport hopes that these flights are just the beginning of expanded service options and looks forward to a great partnership with Avelo.

The overall yearly economic impact of Daytona Beach International Airport is $3.2 billion, according to the 2023 study by the Florida Department of Transportation.
