Singapore Airlines’ A350 Hits 100% Occupancy with Istanbul Upgrade

Singapore Airlines, which has been operating flights to Turkey for 35 years, unveiled the new cabin configuration of the Airbus A350 aircraft used for its Istanbul routes.

Singapore Airlines Turkey Director, Hong Yao Hu, showcased the aircraft to journalists at the Istanbul Airport International Departures Terminal before the Istanbul-Singapore flight, providing details about the services offered.

Hong Yao Hu highlighted that all business class seats have aisle access. The A350-900 aircraft is configured with 42 business class, 24 premium economy, and 187 economy class seats, totaling 253 seats. In the business class, passengers are offered a choice of four meals. “We have a unique ‘book to cook’ meal service in both business and premium economy classes. These special meals are prepared in advance and are available on all long-haul flights departing from Singapore,” said Yao Hu.

Furthermore, Yao Hu announced the provision of free Wi-Fi service for passengers, stating, “This service commenced on July 1st. Joining our KrisFlyer mileage program is all that’s required. If KrisFlyer members make a reservation and enter their card number at least 1.5 hours before the flight, they can enjoy unlimited internet throughout the flight. We rank among the top three globally in offering this service. While we have Turkish passengers, there are many travelers from Asian countries, Australia, and New Zealand. Due to Istanbul being a major hub, we have numerous transit passengers from Europe. Instead of departing from other locations, they prefer to travel with us from Istanbul. We started flying the Airbus A350-900 to Istanbul on December 1, 2019. We were the first airline to bring this aircraft type to Turkey. Despite the pandemic, we continue with the same aircraft.”

Highlighting the success of the new cabin configuration, Yao Hu noted that they achieved a 100% occupancy rate with the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. “We aim to increase our weekly 4 flights to Istanbul. Major airports offer the advantage of easily increasing capacity or scheduling a flight. In this regard, Istanbul Airport provides us with a significant advantage,” he added. (AA)
