Vietnam Airlines Launches New Direct Flights from Munich

Vietnam Airlines is set to begin operations at Munich Airport in October 2024, marking a significant expansion of its services in Asia.

Starting at the end of the summer flight schedule, the airline will initially offer direct flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City twice a week, utilizing the Boeing B787-9 with Business, Premium Economy, and Economy classes.

The service to Hanoi is scheduled for Mondays and Saturdays, while flights to Ho Chi Minh City will depart on Tuesdays. In December 2024, the frequency to both destinations will increase to twice a week, reinforcing Munich Airport’s status as a key European hub for Vietnam Airlines, which also serves Frankfurt, London-Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.

Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, expressed enthusiasm for the new routes, emphasizing their potential to boost economic relations and cultural exchanges between Bavaria and Vietnam. The introduction of these flights is expected to meet the high demand for travel between Germany and one of Southeast Asia’s top vacation spots.

Vietnam’s popularity as a travel destination is on the rise, making it a focal point for German and Bavarian travelers and businesses.

The new direct flights underscore the growing economic and educational ties between Bavaria and Vietnam, highlighted by partnerships between universities and investments from Bavarian firms.
