The Honorable Asot Michael, Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Tourism, Economic Development, Investment and Energy, has announced the appointment of tourism executive Jean-Marc Flambert as Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority’s (ABTA) Vice President with responsibility for Sales and Marketing for the twin islands’ tourism portfolio in the United Kingdom and Europe. The Honorable Asot Michael described Mr. Flambert as “an expert strategist with a successful track record of overseeing and directing high-impact tourism marketing campaigns for destinations.”
Mr. Flambert said of his appointment, “I am delighted to be joining this amazing team to promote an island which is so well-loved by the British market and is seeing many new developments. We will be targeting strong revenue growth in the coming years.”
Mr. Flambert will be based in the UK office and his work will complement the existing team. The initial focus will be to review the strategic plan and engage with key trade partners, including the 19 hotels that have a presence in the UK.
Jean-Marc Flambert is a tourism professional with ten years’ experience representing destinations including Sri Lanka and Saint Lucia. He has been credited with driving the growth of these destinations whilst creating strong partnerships with tour operators, the media and hotels. His approach is based on working as a team of stake holders - ensuring that all partners are moving in the same direction to achieve synergistic effect. His mandate from the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is to further develop the strategy to grow the numbers and value of visitors from the United Kingdom and Europe to the twin islands.
In welcoming Mr. Flambert to the team, ABTA’s CEO Colin James said, “We are confident that Jean-Marc will leverage his industry expertise in overseeing the planning, development, and execution of our initiatives to promote and sell Antigua and Barbuda.”
