The St. Regis Astana opens in Kazakhstan’s Glittering Capital

  • Published by Ozgur Tore

St. Regis Hotels & Resorts announced the opening of The St. Regis Astana, marking the debut of the brand in Kazakhstan. Travelers and locals will experience unparalleled luxury and bespoke St. Regis service with the local traditions, art and architecture of Kazakhstan at the hotel, which is developed by MG Holding.

The St. Regis Astana exterior

Ideally located inside Astana’s Central Park, The St. Regis Astana offers a serene escape from the bustling downtown. Guests are in close proximity to landmarks including the Bayterek Tower and Independence Square, as well as the Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center, Astana Opera and foreign embassies.

A vision of contemporary living, guests are greeted by a courtyard layout inspired by that of an indigenous yurt. Set above the ground level, the courtyard connects the hotel, hotel residences, retail center and offices. The avant-garde interior combines modern and neo-classical elements with over 400 pieces of contemporary art created by both local and international artists. Catching the eye of visitors, a captivating hallmark mural found in The St. Regis Bar depicts the golden Samruk, a Phoenix-like bird, which is an important part of Kazakh mythology. Since the opening of the flagship hotel, The St. Regis New York, a hand painted mural has been at the centerpiece of all St. Regis Bars, providing guests with a captivating visual that pays homage to the rich history of the destination.

The St. Regis Astana Deluxe Room

The St. Regis Astana boasts 120 luxuriously appointed guestrooms, including 23 suites with private Juliette terraces presenting unforgettable views of the Astana Park and Ishim River. An expansive Presidential Suite, measuring 510 square meters, occupies the top floor of the hotel, offering custom-designed furniture, a study, drawing room, dining room that can accommodate up to 10 guests, wine vault, a spacious bathroom that includes a sauna, and a 139-square-meter private outdoor terrace. All guestrooms and suites enjoy the signature St. Regis Butler service, one of the most visible representations of the brand’s famed level of service and attention.

The St. Regis Astana features two distinct dining venues including The Grill, a contemporary fine dining experience with a personalized table-side presentation serving Astana’s best cuts of meats, fish and vegetables, grilled to perfection. La Rivière, the city’s renowned restaurant, has found a new home at The St. Regis Astana, offering a wide selection of the finest cuisine and wine in the city. Additionally, The St. Regis Bar features an exclusive selection of the world’s finest champagnes, rare vintage wines, hand-crafted cocktails, and the signature St. Regis Bloody Mary. Guests are invited to try the Nomad Snapper, the hotel’s own take on Bloody Mary. Inspired by the ancient traditions of nomad, the Nomad Snapper represents the nomadic culture at the vast steppes of Kazakhstan. Served in a glass that resembles the Bayterek, one of the signature monuments of Astana, the cocktail unites local flavors, such as Kurt cheese, Adjika and Aral Sea salt, while Kurt and wheat bread infusion add a unique touch.

Spanning 2,300 square meters, The St. Regis brand’s signature Iridium Spa enables guests to indulge in a range of decadent and specialty treatments in a tranquil environment.  Located on the third floor, the Iridium Spa presents guests with six treatment rooms, including two single suites with private Jacuzzi and a couple suite with private sauna, a beauty and grooming salon, a hammam and an indoor swimming pool.

With over 1,000 square meters of functional meeting space, including an exquisite Astor Ballroom, The St. Regis Astana is set to be the city’s premier venue for social and gala events. The pillar-less Astor Ballroom features 520 square meters to comfortably accommodate up to 575 guests, setting the stage for grand weddings and occasions. The Astor Ballroom also boasts a six-meter high ceiling, a separate VIP entrance, floor to ceiling windows and a custom chandelier inspired by Simurgh, the bird of magnificent size and beauty, adorning the pre-function area.

To celebrate the opening, The St. Regis Astana offers a special opening package. Starting from USD480 per room per night, guests will enjoy an opulent stay in a Deluxe room, complimentary breakfasts as well as signature Bloody Mary for two, and a 30-minute couple massage at Iridium Spa.
