Palazzo Volpi is a luxurious and contemporary take on traditional Venetian accommodation comprising three private, spacious and elegant apartment Suites which officially launched on 1st January 2018.

Palazzo Volpi

Situated in the heart of Campo Santi Giovanni and dating back to the 16th Century, Palazzo Volpi was originally apart of Palazzo Grimani. It then became the Embassy of the Brescia in the 16th and 17th century and more recently the Consulate of Argentine was living here, between 18th and 19th Century.

The original property can even be seen in both Canaletto’s ‘Campo santi Giovanni e Paolo a Venezia col monumento a Bartolomeo Colleoni’ and Francesco Guardi’s ‘Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo’. When owners Anna & Fred bought the property it was in a state of disrepair as it had been untouched for 70 years, just a sole priest has been living in the building.

The Suites

Suite I is a magnificent three-bedroom duplex apartment for up-to five guests. Spread across 160sqm and with magnificent views of the Scuola Grande di San Marco and Basilica Santi Giovanni e Paolo. Suite I is the largest Palazzo Volpi apartment. Two of the bedrooms are doubles with en-suite; there is also an additional single room. On the lower ground floor there is a fully functioning state of the art kitchen that leads out through double doors to a secret Venetian Courtyard, perfect for enjoying an Aperol Spritz.

Suite II is an elegant one double bedroomed apartment with en-suite bathroom, open plan kitchen with a living room. Suite II faces overlooks Palazzo Volpi’s traditional Venitian courtyard, so offers guests peace and tranquility.

Suite III is a spacious one-bedroom apartment with en-suite bathroom, living room and fully functioning state of the art kitchen. Suite III overlooks the Campo Santi Giovanni and is a romantic retreat for couples.

All the beds in each of the suites come with super soft memory foam mattresses, white satin Frette bed linens, towels and bathrobes and bathroom toiletries are by exclusive French brand David Mallett. Each suite at comes with daily maid service, plus a number of other services and experiences can be arranged upon request including, a private chef, restaurant reservations, private transfers and private tour guides.

The Design

The design style of Palazzo Volpi is best described as Modern Classic using a mix of Italian materials coupled with French inspired interior design. Reflecting both Anna’s Venetian upbringing and Fred’s French Savoir Faire. Palazzo Volpi has retained many of the properties original details including the beams, windows, all the external façade and stairs and every detail has been thought out, with the design ethos running continuously and seamlessly throughout.

Upon entering the apartments one of the most striking features is the floor of the hallway, kitchen and living areas has been made using Nero Marquina and Venetian White marbles with a bespoke design which has been inspired by the Zattere promenade in Venice, complementing parquet flooring was made using brushed Oak from Slovenia.

The calm and elegant living rooms feature stunning marble fireplaces, which are central to the room with traditional and original floor to ceiling windows, either side. The Sofa and chairs have been custom made by Maxalto, chairs using silk velvet and sofas in cotton linen. All lighting has also been designed by Anna & Fred, then made by local artisans in Venice. The living room tables are made from African Black Limba, an Arabescato Chiaro marble top and wrought iron stands, inspired by Palazzo Volpi’s staircase.

The Mirrors have been made using Mirastar by Saint Gobain, France’s finest glass maker then framed by sanded oak. The parallel mirrors are attractive and functional as there are no side windows, so the mirrors help make the light enter the room. Mirrors in the bedrooms and above the fireplace also cleverly disguise Televisions. Bespoke Silk rugs were sourced from weavers in India and all of the curtains have been made using neutral fabrics from Venetian brand Rubelli.

The spacious double bedrooms feature elegant four-poster beds have been made using sanded oak and the bedside tables are made of Laquered black Limba and wrought iron with painted and sanded pine lamps. Bathrooms suites are by leading Italian brand Devon & Devon including Bath and Taps. The bath and showers are made of a special light form of Travetine and double sinks of Marble Arabscato Chiaro

Anna & Fred have designed all of the furniture, lighting which was then made by specialist local artisans in the region. Guests are able to order any item designed by Anna and Fred for Palazzo Volpi for their own homes.
