Nordic Travel Fair Matka offers more programme for the travel trade professionals as the Association of Finnish Travel Agents (Afta) organises a seminar already one day before the event opens, on 15 January 2014.

The seminar addresses the development of aviation in Europe and looks into how the aviation strategy that will be published in 2014 has progressed so far. The seminar is organised in cooperation with the Board of Airline Representatives in Finland, BARIF.

In the afternoon the seminar continues with a panel discussion on travel blogs. Travel bloggers together with the industry’s representatives discuss how both parties could work together for the best possible outcome. Among other successful bloggers is Sebastian Canaves whose blog has over 50,000 followers. From the professional side the speakers include Finnair's Social Media Manager Aku Varamäki and marketing wizard Jaume Marin from the Costa Brava Girona Tourist Board.

The panel discussion is a part of the new programme Nordic Bloggers' Experience, which brings 40 internationally acknowledged travel bloggers to the Nordic Travel Fair Matka.

The Future of Travel in Northern Countries

The future of the travel trade in the Northern countries and its possibilities for success is discussed on Thursday. In addition to good travel connections efficient sales and marketing is needed together with product development in order to maintain the interest of northern destinations. The panel consists of representatives from the Scandinavian Airlines, Eckerö Lines, TUI Nordic, Finnair and BARIF. The moderator in the discussion is Tom Christides, an all around expert of the airline industry and former VP Communications and Public Affairs at Blue1.

Also on Thursday a campaign promoting the equal rights of the European travelers is launched at the Nordic Travel Fair Matka. The campaign will go through Europe and its leading figure is Ms. Meglena Kuneva, the advisor of Siim Kallas who is the Vice President of the European Union Commission. Ms. Meglena Kuneva's speech on the Show stage is titled A Europe For All Passengers.

The Travel Trade Lounge and Business Travel Forum are open for travel trade professionals on Thursday 16 January. The Travel Trade Lounge introduces the newest travel technology and leisure travel from the b2b perspective. The Business Travel Forum focuses on the latest trends in business travel.
