Colombo hosts Historic International Gathering: Jehovah's Witnesses
- Ozgur Tore
Sri Lanka has been selected to host Jehovah's Witnesses - a Special Convention in the South Asian region and will have the responsibility of caring for approximately 3500 overseas delegates from the USA, UK, Italy and Asian nations.
The planned program that will take place in Colombo between 6 and 8 July 2018 will be delivered simultaneously in English, Sinhala, Tamil and Sign Language.
Each year, around the world, Jehovah’s Witnesses meet together in large groups at three-day conventions. Millions attend. These free public events feature talks, interviews, and videos that teach Scriptural lessons and show how to practically apply Bible principles in life.
Special Conventions are held in five or six countries to provide the participants an opportunity to experience a shared global brotherhood that transcends the divisions of race, language or nationality. In 2018, Sri Lanka is the only special convention location in Asia. The other selected countries are Georgia, Mozambique, Norway, Papua New Guinea and Peru.
