AIESEC International Congress 2019 To Be Hosted by Sri Lanka

AIESEC, one of the world’s largest youth-run organizations, announced that after 24 years, Sri Lanka is again honored with the opportunity of hosting the 71st International Congress in 2019.

AIESEC provides youth a platform to develop their leadership potential to impact the world by facilitating cross-cultural exchanges for volunteer opportunities and internships abroad from over 120 countries worldwide. As an organization, AIESEC has currently impacted on over 5000 partner organizations and represented in over 2400 universities with more than 90000 active members and over 1,000,000 alumni worldwide.

AIESEC in Sri Lanka was established in 1995 and is currently present in 8 universities namely the University of Colombo, University of Jayawardenapura, University of Peradeniya, University of Kelaniya, University of Moratuwa, University of Ruhuna, NSBM Green University and Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology.

“As a leading youth movement in the country, AIESEC in Sri Lanka believes that it is the responsibility of youth to engage actively in the development of the nation”, said Mr. Isuru Premathilake, Current President of AIESEC in Sri Lanka at the inaugural press conference held on the 25th of January 2019. He further said, “It is this stand that we are trying to achieve through this conference, by opening a global platform for Sri Lankan youth to actively engage”.

AIESEC International Congress is the biggest annual AIESEC event, a prestigious conference aimed at celebrating youth leadership, cultural diversity and global togetherness.

Commencing on the 6th of July, the conference will be hosted till the 14th , under the strategic guidance of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau with the participation of over 800 young leaders from more than 120 countries. The conference will be comprised of a series of vibrant events such as Opening Ceremony, Global Village, YouthSpeak Forum, World’s Largest Lesson and Sri Lankan Night.
