Cologne Convention Bureau helps organizers plan events with checklists

A new service of the Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB) is now available: Event planners can now find a set of guidelines at locations.koeln that will help them optimally plan their event.

In six steps complete with checklists, planners of a meeting or an evening event are guided through the process of organizing their event. The service is available in German and English for beginners as well as professionals, and it can be used in Cologne or anywhere else. The CCB is the first convention bureau to offer this kind of global service, which uses a storytelling format.

“We regard ourselves as a partner of our customers, and we want to offer our utmost support to make sure their events are successful,” explains Stephanie Kleine Klausing, Director Conventions & Marketing at the Cologne Tourist Board. “That’s why we are now sharing our accumulated know-how and experience on our website, using a modern and innovative format.”

On the website, the user is guided in six chapters through the process of planning an event. Entertaining graphics are combined with appropriate checklists that are available for download, and care is taken to ensure that no detail will be forgotten. The guidelines cover important work steps such as

  • defining the goal and the target group,
  • designing the concept and doing the calculations,
  • checking the planning process,
  • organizing and
  • staging the event,
  • and doing the follow-up work.

The accompanying texts also refer to the current thematic focus of the Cologne Tourist Board: Culinary Cologne. The texts use concepts of cooking activities and compare the planning of a successful event with the preparation of an elaborate meal.
